Spinalonga Island

Spinalonga Island is tucked away in a magical setting and it is a must see while in Crete. A boat will take you to this last lepor colony of Europe. You walk back in time around the whole perimeter of the island and hear the story of the "heroes" that called this island their home. It is an amazing experience to hear of how not too long ago until 1957, the locals were sent to this island for isolation and how they made a life for themselves.

It is known for its simple beauty surrounded by shades of blue, moutains, narrow streets, cafes and traditional tavernas. You will have time to explore this town. Agios Nikolaos is the known as the East beauty of Crete. It is a definite place to add on your list to visit while on the island of Crete.
